Date/Time: Sunday, May 4th: 1pm - 4pm MDT
Location: Lyons, Colorado. (We'll be convening in the Pinewood Springs subdivision. Pinewood Springs is halfway between Lyons and Estes Park, about a 15-20 minutes drive from each)

In this class, you’ll learn how to use coil basketry techniques to make a small pine needle basket.

We'll cover the origins of pine needle coil basketry and the basics of pine needle foraging. I will demonstrate preparing the needles, creating the spiral, building the walls of the basket, and finishing the basket.

Many different baskets will be displayed to show how to create lids, handles, etc. to show students how they can continue to take the craft to the next level. Workshop fee includes all materials.

We have a limited number of work trade and scholarship opportunities available. Please email allie@allieolson.com for more information. Class requires at least 5 students to attend. If the class is not filled, you'll be notified one week before and refunded in full.

THE SETTING
We'll be weaving on our baskets on a large wooded property adjacent to national forest at 6400' elevation. If the weather is fair, we'll weave outside, on the land or on a covered porch. If the weather is wet, we'll weave inside a rustic log cabin. It is recommend you have a 4WD vehicle to access to property and are able to walk down uneven dirt pathways. Please bring any snacks and water you'll need for the four hour class.
