Pine Needle Basket Workshop Advanced Skills (July 26 • 1 - 4pm)

Location: Lyons, Colorado. (We'll be convening in the Pinewood Springs subdivision. Pinewood Springs is halfway between Lyons and Estes Park, about a 15-20 minutes drive from each)
In this class, you’ll learn how to use advanced coil basketry techniques to make a lid with a handle for a small existing pine needle basket. We'll also learn how to make pine needle braids. Prior basketry skills required.
Designed for students who have taken my beginner Pine Needle Basketry class or equivalent. This class will build on those skills, allowing you to learn how to make a lid for an existing pine needle basket or other small vessel. Students should bring the needle and thread they prefer to use for their project. Pine needles will be provided.

THE SETTING
We'll be weaving on our baskets on a large wooded property adjacent to national forest at 6400' elevation. If the weather is fair, we'll weave outside, on the land or on a covered porch. If the weather is wet, we'll weave inside a rustic log cabin. It is recommend you have a 4WD vehicle to access to property (for icy/snowy roads only) and are able to walk down uneven dirt pathways. Please bring any snacks and water you'll need for the three hour class.
